Phones worth seeing...

Nokia’s Marketing strategy is hip and happening:

Nokia 7020:

Nokia announced the new 7020 clamshell mobile phone that mixes light, colour and metal finishes giving the device a more personal feel. The 7020 features a 2.2-inch main display, a hidden second screen for showing new call or message, a 2 Megapixel camera, and integrated music player and FM tuner.

The Nokia 7020 comes pre-loaded with Nokia Maps, Opera Mini, Ovi Share and Ovi Store. You can also find social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and YouTube pre-bookmarked. The phone supports microSD cards up to 16GB.

Nokia 7020 will be available towards the end of 2009 for about Euro 90.

Nokia 2720 and 2730:

In addition to the 7020, Nokia announced two new entry-level mobile phones, the 2720 fold and the 2730 classic. The latter is introduced as the “cheapest 3G phone”. These new phones include Nokia Life Tools, Ovi Mail.

Nokia 2720 fold, as the name suggests, is a clamshell phone. It has a 1.8-inch display, a 1.3 Megapixel Camera. The 2730 classic, on the other hand, is a candy-bar with a 2-inch LCD screen, a 2 Megapixel camera.

Both phones have built-in FM tuner, media player and Bluetooth. They accept microSD memory cards. 2720 fold and 2730 classic will be released in Q3 for Euro 55 and Euro 80 respectively.

Mundasupatti - a fun movie

I saw a movie the other day called Mundasupatti, I’m sure you’ve heard of it if you’re in Tamil Nadu. It was funny, they took a simple superstition which is around and made a fun movie out of it. It was a period film, exploring the 70’s of rural India. I was instantly reminded of swades, a great hindi film which again explores the development gap between cities and villages, it goes a bit further to compare development as seen by an Indian NASA engineer and his old house-hold nanny’s village.  While Swades was a serious film about self empowerment and braking society’s rules about casteism and encouraging education, Mundasupatti is just a funny movie about how stupid, people are.  The movie revolves around a village after which the film is named, the people in the village believe that taking a photograph causes people to get sick and die. Apache Nutch-Solr Integration

Apache Nutch-Solr Integration   As of this writing, I am using Solr 4.8.0 and Nutch 1.8.0 binaries for the integration. Will catch up to later versions as and when my project requires. We can cover installation and operation of Solr and Nutch separately and then talk about the integration. the version of Nutch that I am using is very closely built with Solr and the integration is very simple.
