Working!! is fun and satisfying

Working!! is an anime about the interesting things that happen in a family restaurant called Wagnaria, primarily about the staff that work there. Every character is quirky in someway or the other and it makes for some good comedy and drama.

I’d like to go over the characters in the series in the order of their importance and talk about how I feel about them.

Taneshima Popura:

Taneshima is a high school senior who is very short, she is confused for an elementary student most of the time.

She is very upbeat and works hard, but has a huge complex about her height and is sometimes pranked upon by fellow workers in Wagnaria.

Takanashi Souta:

Takanashi is a junior to Taneshima and is recruited by her to work in Wagnaria at the start of the series. He likes all things tiny and deeply adores Taneshima.

He is level headed most of the time and works hard. He has three elder sisters and one younger sister whom he has to take care of at home and thus is very responsible.

Inami Mahiru:

Inami is another waitress that works at Wagnaria. She has a severe case of Androphobia and hits men who are too close to her by reflex.

She is extremely strong and quick to attack even though she is terrified of being near men. Her manager allows her to work with customers who are only women in a group so as to accommodate Inami.

Inami hits Takanashi lots at the beginning but he promises her to cure her Androphobia by getting her to be normal with him. It is not so easy for Takanashi as he gets hit by Inami a lot but still does not stop helping her. Gradually the two fall in love.

Shirafuji Kyōko:

The manager at Wagnaria, she is incredibly lazy and perpetually hungry. She asks Yachiyo to make parfaits all the time and eats it whenever she feels like it.

Todoroki Yachiyo:

Todoroki is the chief of staff and is a very nice person, she is very attached to the manager Kyōko and worships her. If someone else gives food to Kyōko, she threatens them to stop as she alone has the right to serve food to her precious Kyōko-san.

She also comes from a family who make knifes and as a symbol carries a katana. This makes people nervous and she used to be bullied because of that in elementary school. Kyōko saved Yachiyo from the bullies and they have been friends ever since.

Jun Satō:

Satō is a senior chef in Wagnaria. He is soft and warm and is in love with Yachiyo however all his attempts to signal her go in vain as she is completely occupied by her affection for Kyōko. However his kindness seeps through and Yachiyo starts to have feelings for Satō and she is unable to confess to him. The pairing and the irony is so beautiful and funny

Yamada Aoi:

Yamada is a runaway who cheats the manager into believing that she has lost all her memories. At first she is reluctant to join with the rest of the crew and work but as the series progresses she becomes chirper and joins in the fun but not the work though. She is very lonely as she lives in the restaurant’s attic and invites a lot of attention to herself. She is by far the funnest of the bunch.

And so the working anime is fun to watch and it kinda warms your heart.

Mundasupatti - a fun movie

I saw a movie the other day called Mundasupatti, I’m sure you’ve heard of it if you’re in Tamil Nadu. It was funny, they took a simple superstition which is around and made a fun movie out of it. It was a period film, exploring the 70’s of rural India. I was instantly reminded of swades, a great hindi film which again explores the development gap between cities and villages, it goes a bit further to compare development as seen by an Indian NASA engineer and his old house-hold nanny’s village.  While Swades was a serious film about self empowerment and braking society’s rules about casteism and encouraging education, Mundasupatti is just a funny movie about how stupid, people are.  The movie revolves around a village after which the film is named, the people in the village believe that taking a photograph causes people to get sick and die. The movie did a faithful representation of the rural India, with its proud people and crazy traditions which make no sense. People...

Apache Nutch-Solr Integration

Apache Nutch-Solr Integration   As of this writing, I am using Solr 4.8.0 and Nutch 1.8.0 binaries for the integration. Will catch up to later versions as and when my project requires. We can cover installation and operation of Solr and Nutch separately and then talk about the integration. the version of Nutch that I am using is very closely built with Solr and the integration is very simple. For simplicity sake, Ill stick to Linux environment for both as Nutch does not operate in windows natively. Getting Solr to work 1. All you need to for Solr to work are the binaries. you can get them from their  official page  (version 4.8.0) 2. Extract the  solr-4.8.0.zip  in some location. for this tutorial, lets assume that its in  /home/test/Research/solr 4.8.0/ 3. Open terminal, navigate to  /home/test/Research/solr-4.8.0/example/  and execute the following command to start solr server java -jar start.jar  4...
