Bokura wa minna Kawaisu (The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behaviour)

The  Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behaviour

It’s an ensemble cast slice of life romance drama with the Main Character: Usa is trying to build a normal life after having a difficult middle school. He used to shelter the weirdos as they gravitated towards him for support and he couldn’t reject them, but others labeled him as “Freak show Ring Master”. Now that he has changed schools, he’s keen to keep the weird out. But ironically that doesn’t happen as he ends up living in a complex which many people with ‘unique’ personalities share. There are a bunch people with a bunch of problems and Usa ends up being a guy guarding a bunch of crazies again.

On his first day in the new school, Usa dreams of having a normal life with a smart and sophisticated girlfriend and He sees Kawai Ritsu reading in the library. It is love at first sight for Usa however Ritsu barely notices him.

He later finds out that she is also one of the people living in the Kawai Manor, her parents actually own the place and have rented out the rest of the rooms.

The care taker for the place is an elderly lady called Sumiko.

He also meets the rest of the tenants and does not like them but decides to stay on to get closer to Kawai Ritsu.

Ritsu is an avid and compulsive reader, she is always with a book and she is very antisocial because she may not notice what is going on in front of her. She is often perceived as cold or being apathetic but in fact she is a warm and caring person with a good sense of humour. She just hasn’t talked to many people yet and as a result there is a prejudice against her. At one point she tries to save a fellow tenant from tumbling down a stair case by catching her, stupid idea though it may be, she is admittedly very brave.

There is the masochistic Shirosaki who is very interesting in his own way, he is actually an enigma and he is by far the most enlightened of the bunch, figuring out who he is and what he likes and how to live with who he is. He also provokes people just to get scolded and beaten up but usually it is playful.

Then there is Nishikino Mayumi, a working woman in her twenties who has a series of bad relationships.

She has terrible taste in men who always cheat on her. She is childish for her age and constantly bemoans that she is never in a steady relationship. She causes a ruckus when she drinks much to the chagrin of Ritsu or Usa, She was the one who tried sliding off a staircase handle whom Ritsu tried to save.

The other tenant is Watanabe Sayaka, a college student. She is pretty and she pulls out all the stops on being considered cute and adorable. She acts way too cute when she’s trying to impress someone.

Usa initially considers her to be normal compared to the other three but later realises that she is just as bad as she is prone to tantrums and random indulgences. She picks a fight with Mayumi and they often get physical and Usa is the one stopping the fight.

The story focusses on the Usa's relationship with Kawai Ritsu and their respective quirks make for some good comedy. They are both charming and the way the story plays out is beautiful.

The art work is amazing, the anime is so beautiful, In fact it was one of the reasons I got into it in the first place.

Overall the series progresses fairly fast and you have a good time watching it. There is no unreasonably complex story lines or twists that you need to concern yourself with. You can just watch it and be smiling about absolutely nothing at all and that’s the beauty of it.

Mundasupatti - a fun movie

I saw a movie the other day called Mundasupatti, I’m sure you’ve heard of it if you’re in Tamil Nadu. It was funny, they took a simple superstition which is around and made a fun movie out of it. It was a period film, exploring the 70’s of rural India. I was instantly reminded of swades, a great hindi film which again explores the development gap between cities and villages, it goes a bit further to compare development as seen by an Indian NASA engineer and his old house-hold nanny’s village.  While Swades was a serious film about self empowerment and braking society’s rules about casteism and encouraging education, Mundasupatti is just a funny movie about how stupid, people are.  The movie revolves around a village after which the film is named, the people in the village believe that taking a photograph causes people to get sick and die. The movie did a faithful representation of the rural India, with its proud people and crazy traditions which make no sense. People...

Apache Nutch-Solr Integration

Apache Nutch-Solr Integration   As of this writing, I am using Solr 4.8.0 and Nutch 1.8.0 binaries for the integration. Will catch up to later versions as and when my project requires. We can cover installation and operation of Solr and Nutch separately and then talk about the integration. the version of Nutch that I am using is very closely built with Solr and the integration is very simple. For simplicity sake, Ill stick to Linux environment for both as Nutch does not operate in windows natively. Getting Solr to work 1. All you need to for Solr to work are the binaries. you can get them from their  official page  (version 4.8.0) 2. Extract the  solr-4.8.0.zip  in some location. for this tutorial, lets assume that its in  /home/test/Research/solr 4.8.0/ 3. Open terminal, navigate to  /home/test/Research/solr-4.8.0/example/  and execute the following command to start solr server java -jar start.jar  4...
